HISTORY OF EAST VALLEY WOMEN'S LEAGUE

The East Valley Women’s League is the realization of sisters, Tara Stainton and Tracy Worischeck. Recognizing there were many underprivileged women and children in our own community, they helped establish a non-profit service organization to assist those who were in need of a helping hand.
Forty women from various backgrounds and talents joined together in 2001 to become the East Valley Women’s League. The Thomas J. Pappas School for the Homeless and the Ronald McDonald House were two of the first philanthropic beneficiaries. The following year, the League began collecting and distributing prom dresses for girls who could not afford the expense of prom. The Cinderella Affair was born and is now in its 11th consecutive year of providing thousands of young women statewide, free prom dresses and accessories and the opportunity to participate in an important high school milestone.
In 2002, the EVWL began offering college scholarships to single mothers and underprivileged women and children. Over the past ten years the League has awarded more than $100,000.00 to its recipients. In 2003, the EVWL launched “Packing for Success”. This program has provided thousands of backpacks filled with necessary school supplies to underprivileged students in middle schools and high schools in the east valley.
Each year members are encouraged to bring new projects to support and vote to keep existing projects. Some of our other current projects include: Chemo Companions, Feeding the Hungry Mind and Body Food Drive, Homebound Project, MP’s Wish, Children’s Cancer Network, and the Pregnancy Care Center of Chandler.
The East Valley Women’s League remains committed to making a positive impact in our community and the lives of women and children. We are grateful to our families, friends, businesses and sponsors who make it possible for us to continue our vision of service.
